Togetherness, Civil Service and Taieri combine for the annual Club Cross Country Championships, held at Memorial Park, Mosgiel. Runners and walkers line up prior to the start, were then sent on their way by the Club Patron, Brian Cashmere, over two laps of 6.4 km journey. Underfoot conditions were testing, but spirited competition between the two clubs, made for some good results.

Our season usually runs from April till end of September and all members gather at 1.00pm on Saturday at the Athletic Taieri Clubrooms in Memorial Park for club runs/walks unless otherwise stated in the programme as we like to vary our outings to incorporate hills/beach and town outings and we also have combined runs with other clubs.  We are an all-weather group so dress for the occasion. Often club days still occur when there are Otago Competitions on, and we try to have teams entered if possible.

Club runs/walks are social and not competitive, and we usually have a pack to suit all pace’s so that no-one is out on their own. There is a great club spirit within the section and a highlight is our cuppa afterwards so bring a plate for afternoon tea have a chat
and a few laughs. This is also when we find out what’s coming up.

There are runs through the summer period, but on Saturday mornings generally meeting at 8am and leaving from the Mosgiel over bridge on the old road on Saddle Hill, this is organised as the season is finishing and running/walking routes can also vary.

Come along and give us a go – we know you will enjoy it and what better way to meet new people, have a bit of exercise and fun all at once.
